Camping is one of my favorite things to do in the summer. My family always went camping and we visited so many of the beautiful parks and places in Utah. My mom always made chocolate topped treats when we went camping so before we left for the Kelly family camping trip I made them with Marcus. They did not disappoint.
This year we went up Spanish Fork Canyon to Diamond Fork campground. We found a group site that was perfect for the big family and all the trailers we had. We got up there early with Vicki and spent some time getting the camp ready and buying some food. My parents were so gracious to bring their trailer up from Fairview and meet us at the campground. We had dinner with them that night at the campsite.
That first day we were there and waiting for the rest of the family to come join us we did a lot of fun activities with Marcus. I found a lot of fun ideas on pinterest about how to entertain young kids while camping. I wanted Marcus to have a good experience camping and hope he will look forward to it every year like I did as a kid. We painted rocks (with glow-in-the-dark paint even), caught a butterfly and some ugly bugs, went to the splash pad in Spanish Fork and had a nice visit from my friend Ashleigh.
On Friday the rest of the family finally joined us. We had great food and had a lot of fun hanging out in our camp. Lucy was a dream while we were camping. She loved it because she was held most of the time. It was so nice to have the trailer to sleep in. Our kids did great sleeping which made camping so much more enjoyable.
We did minute-to-win it games that were absolutely hilarious! They were so much fun to participate in and also to watch.
We went on a fun nature scavenger hunt. Marcus loved it and enjoyed looking at everything we put in his backpack.
This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. We all got in bed together one morning. My kids loved it!
We had so much fun and can't wait for next year. We hope our kids have an appreciation for the outdoors and will grow up loving camping.
