Hilarious family tradition

Our family has this funny tradition that we have done ever since I can remember. I don't know how it got started but i love it when it happens. Anytime someone gets married, their spouse is welcomed into the Jordan family (my moms family) by pelting them with marshmallows. I know it sounds weird but it is so much fun!! I completely forgot about it until this last Sunday when all my family surrounded Dave and said they had an announcement. Then they said "Welcome to the Jordan family" and then let him have it with the marshmallows. He of course ran for his life and retreated to our car. He had fun with it though. Now my sweetie is officially part of the Jordan family!! Welcome to the family (only 10 months late) :)

Summer Family Reunion!!

This last Sunday all the Jordan's got together out in Lake Point (by Tooele) to see all the family, including my Aunt Kaye, Uncle Gary, Cousin Denise, and Cousin Eric from Canada. They came down because my cousin Eric is going in to the MTC today to go on a mission to the Dominican Republic. It was so much fun to visit with family, we sat outside and just talked. It was such a memorable day with the nice summer weather, good food, and good company. Family is so important and Dave and I are so blessed to live close to great family. Thanks grandma for allowing us to overtake your yard!! It was so good to see everyone!

Nieces and nephews

Gavin (holding the babies) Kate and Brynnley (my two cute new nieces) and Carson

Enoch (who doesn't like to have his picture taken, which is why he is not in the picture above. i had to sneak this picture when he wasn't looking :)

Yesterday I visited my sister Tresa and her kids. I haven't spent a lot of time with my nieces and nephew because of studying for my licensing exam and looking for a job. So I went with them to the park and hung out all day. I love being an aunt because you get to spoil your nieces and nephews like their parents can't! Here are a few fun moments from yesterday at the Fowler's. I went in to Kate's (my niece) room to change her diaper and my 10 year old nephew Gavin was sitting in her car seat singing an ad he had heard on the radio. I started laughing because he was rocking back and forth and didn't seem to care that he was in a baby car seat. His mom told him to get out and said car seats were for babies only. He asked if he could get one and how much they were. She said around $80, and Gavin said after he thought about it for a second "oh, I guess I can't afford that". After I changed Kate's diaper I went out to the living room and asked Gavin where he had heard that ad that was he was singing. He said the radio. I asked him where he was listening to the radio and he said at night before he goes to bed. I was curious as to what he would be listening to and he said he listens to 102.7 Nightside. I asked what that was and he said "talk radio". I looked at my sister Tresa who was laughing and then I started laughing. My 10 year old nephew listens to talk radio and LOVES it!! My sister told me he came up to her a couple of months ago and said "Mom, I don't think Barack O'bama would be a good president because he doesn't.." and then he said a sophisticated answer. I have the smartest nephews in the world!! Another fun experience from yesterday was when I was outside jumping with my nephew Enoch on the trampoline. He is fascinated with bugs. So he saw one land on the tramp pad and immediately told me to stop jumping and come and look at it. He was so intriqued with it and started explaining to me that it had red eyes and little legs. I asked him if we should name it. He said yes and I said how about "bob". His eyes lit up and he said yes. Then he got really close to the bug and said "Hi Bob". It was the cutest thing ever. After we chased bob around the yard I saw that my sister had raspberries growing in her garden. So I asked if we could pick some. So Enoch and I picked a bowl full of raspberries and then ate them on the trampoline. As we sat on the trampoline he would say how good the raspberries are and then look at me and smile. I was so impressed with how content he was with the small things. What an amazing day to learn so much from my nieces and nephews. Kate is only about 3 months old so she didn't say too much but she is getting to be quite a chunker. And her mom will even admit that. I can't believe how much she has grown in just a few weeks since I have seen her. So I dedicate this post to all the nieces and nephews out there. I love being an aunt and learning so many things from what my nieces and nephews can teach me!!

Fun memories!!

I got this from a family members blog and thought it would be fun! I hope you will play along.

Here are the directions:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments

Summer movies

So over the last couple of days and the holiday Dave and I have watched quite a few movies!! We have loved it. We love movies but haven't seen very many lately. So we first rented "Alvin and the Chipmunks" through RedBox (which I think is the best thing invented for people who can't afford to see movies in the theatre all the time). We both enjoyed it but Dave liked it more than I did. Even though it's an older movie and not a summer movie, we still hadn't seen it. Then we saw Wall-E on the 4th of July. Again, Dave liked it more than I did but I thought it was funny. It seemed to me that there were a few messages in this pixar movie, more than the others. I've read a few opinions on this and haven't come up with a conclusion. I think it's a cute kid movie but that they also put in messages for parents when they see it with their kids. But I don't think it's anything to get offended over. Then on Saturday we saw Get Smart. Dave and I love Steve Carrell and "The Office" so we were really excited. Again, Dave loved it more than I did. My point is that I don't enjoy movies it's that I love summer movies and going to see movies when it's hot outside and you get to sit in a cool theatre and drink Sprite. That's one of the few things i love about summer time

The Landcruiser

This is Dave's other love of his life besides me, his 1974 Land Cruiser. We were faced with the decision of selling the Buick, that my parents graciously gave me when I got in my car accident two years ago. I was grateful for a car but hated driving it! It was a boat!! So we sold it and decided I would drive the Honda and Dave would drive his Land Cruiser. Well, after fixing it up a little bit (wink, wink) it is finally driving smoothly and fun to ride in. I made him clean it up a lot and get it looking nice and clean inside. We took it for a drive up the canyon tonight and had a fun relaxing time. We took these pictures on the way down. Most people don't think it's worth it to have a car like this to fix up and keep but I realized early on in dating Dave that he loved this car and that it was a hobby that was really fun for him. So I have graciously allowed him to fix it and drive it!! I have to say that I loved it tonight as much as he did, with the top off and mountain air it was a little slice of heaven, as dave would say!!

Lehi Round-up Yeehaw!!

Everyone who knows me knows I grew up in Lehi hating country music, cowboys, etc. Well if you ever want to break that just grow up with a friend like Ashleigh Smith!! She gave up her ticket to a Garth Brooks concert in high school so that I could go and I have loved country ever since!! Along with growing up in Lehi is the Lehi Round-up week. They have a lot of fun carnivals, the rodeo and the ward float parade. Dave and I couldn't make it to the float parade this year, hopefully next year. But I promised my friend Ashleigh that this year we would make it to her rodeo barbeque and to the rodeo. Last year we were in Hava supai so we didn't make it. This year Dave and I dressed up with the hat he got in Mexico and the belt buckle I got from my little brother who served part of his mission in Texas. We had a blast!! Thanks ash!!

Good food and fireworks with the Randall's

This year I was so excited for the 4th of July because my whole family was going to be together. I have really missed being with my family on the 4th because of the good food and time we get to be together and just relax. So we started the holiday on the 3rd going down to Provo for the hot air balloon's. This has been a tradition in my family for a long time. I was not a fan of it because you have to get up so early but this year we went on the 3rd and I was able to take a nap!! The balloons were fun but we missed them blowing up and then only one made it back to the target. But it was still fun being together and eating Costco muffins and juice!

The actual 4th of July we started off by having dutch oven food, my favorite!! Tresa and Greg made a mountain man hash and then Dave and I made orange rolls. I don't ever remember food tasting so good! That's one thing I love about the 4th of July is the good homemade food. We then went to see Wall-E. I'll talk about summer movies on a later post. Then we relaxed for a while and went over to my sister Valerie's for a BBQ. We then lit off our own fireworks. I told my mom we had to have fireworks outside so that Dave could light them off. He loves having his own fireworks show. I was feeling bad he wasn't with his family so we got him some great parachute and tank fireworks for him to let off. He had a blast with my brother Jarom, my nephew Gavin, and my brother-in-law Kyle. We then ended the festivities over by Thanksgiving Point by playing games while we waited for the fireworks to start. Thanks to my wonderful family for the fun day!! It was so much fun to spend it together!

This is the cake Dave and I made to celebrate my sister Tresa's birthday and my moms. (the 4th of July is their favorite holiday and their birthday's are in July so we thought it fitting for a flag cake) They are both in July so we had a little present and cake for them. Unfortunately we didn't get to do candles, sorry mom and Tresa, but Happy Birthday!!

My cute patriotic nieces Brynnley and Kate and my dad, also being patriotic!!

My nephews Enoch and Carson playing outside

My mom with my cute nephew Kate. My sister made two 4th of July outfits for her. This one was made out of her brother's curtains so we call it her "Gone with the wind" outfit

Dave and I have fallen in love with using our dutch oven. We were so excited to use it with my sister's family. This is Dave with my brother-in-law Greg.

These were our yummy orange rolls. Dave insisted on the fruit garnishing.

The really yummy mountain man hashMy cute nephew enoch. Over the day I somehow acquired the nickname of "Oatmeal Head" from him, he is the most entertaining and fun nephew!!

Randall Family Fun Day in Fairview

This post is long overdue, I've gotten behind and am now catching up. So the first weekend in June my family planned a day down at my parents house in Fairview. We were all really excited to go down and actually enjoy the fun place they have down there, without the snow and the cold. My dad and I even put in a small volleyball court!! We also borrowed some 4-wheelers from our neighbors and had a great time. My mom was so excited because she finally has a deck and has brand new deck furniture so we ate outside and barbequed. We also played the wii and just relaxed. We are trying to get in as much family time as possible because my parents are leaving for another mission soon. Their papers all almost complete. They are planning to leave the beginning of next year. So I am relishing all the family time I get with my parents, sisters, and brother. Plus I get to see my cute nephews and nieces who I don't see or play with nearly enough! So here are some pictures from our adventures down in Fairview!!

Shamu! Shamu! Shamu!

The Randall
family vacation this year was to San Diego. My parents have a time share that is awesome and you can go all over the United States and Mexico. I have been to Hawaii, Mexico, California, and even used the timeshare for our honeymoon to Yellowstone!! (It sounds lame for a honeymoon but we had a great condo and loved it!!) So we had a nice two bedroom condo on the beach in San Diego. However my favorite part of San Diego is Sea World. I love it more than Disneyland!! So here are some pictures of our trip, we had a blast!! We went to Sea World, The San Diego Zoo, boogie boarding on the beach and relaxed in the condo.
