A new kitchen!!

So Dave and I have been working diligently with every spare moment to get our house to point that everything has a place and we can use all the room we are paying for monthly through our mortgage payment. When we moved in we were not expecting to fix a lot of things, including tearing out our entire kitchen so soon. As you can see the cupboards are old but we were ok with them. Then my parents offered us new cabinets through a credit they were going to lose with a business associate. So we jumped at the chance to have free cabinets. Well this meant a lot of work for us to get our kitchen ready to put in cabinets. I am so lucky to have a husband that knows how to fix stuff and do demolition. If he doesn't know how to do it then he finds out. He saved us a lot of money on doing things we would have had to pay someone to do. Here are some pictures of the demolition, before and after. (My favorite is the oven :) I had never seen one that color before)

Tearing out the soffit above the cabinets, what a mess, it was packed with rock wool

The happiest moment for me was to take off that ugly wallpaper of the fruit, I vow to never put up any wallpaper in any house

We had to close off some valves because originally the washer and dryer went up there in the left corner, where there was a pantry/closet. Then we had to mud and Dave put in new omelets

This is everything we tore out of the bathroom and kitchen. It was a lot of work but it now looks amazing.

Toby enjoys the new kitchen, especially the new rug we bought for the kitchen

Here is the new kitchen with all of our new appliances. The best appliance we bought was a dishwasher!! The house did not have one so we put one in and now we get to spend more time doing things we want to do instead of the dishes every night!!

This is my favorite part of the kitchen. I wanted a desk area where we could put mail and sort of the "catch all" area. It's so nice to have one of those in your kitchen. As you can tell from the wall we still need to paint and are going to put in a tile backsplash. However, we were working on the downstairs when the cabinet guy said the cabinets were done so we had to put the basement on hold to put the kitchen in and decided we wanted a place to watch TV in our family room instead of bedroom. So we are putting the rest of the kitchen on hold so we can get the downstairs liveable.
So there is what we have been up to. A BIG THANK YOU to my parents for their generosity in the cabinets. We can't thank you enough. It seriously is like a brand new house to have new cabinets in our kitchen. Plus it opened up the kitchen so much more to move the refrigerator and take our the pantry. It's still not our dream kitchen but for this house, it's amazing. Currently we are painting the downstairs and will post pictures when we are done :) Oh the joys of owning our own home!! Dave and I are enjoying doing the work together and get excited about picking out paint and then seeing it all painted when we are done.

The Tobster

So we have had Toby now for a few months and I wanted to just brag about our cute dog and tell you what he has been up to. Here are some funny pictures.

This is toby finishing his root beer :) He loves to chew on empty pop bottles

New Years Eve Toby became a man and was snipped :( We were hoping it would make him calmer and we were also following Bob Barker's advice. So our New Year's was spent pampering Toby and going to bed at 10:30. However Toby was hilarious to watch after his surgery and we felt like parents watching over our little kid. Toby couldn't walk down the hall straight and was hilarious to watch the next few days. But he got through it!

A few weeks ago we dog sat for Dave's sister Emily. Here is Murphy, her cute dog. Unfortunately we were remodeling our kitchen during the dog sitting so both dogs spent most of the time in the kennel. Can you tell they are having a blast ?

Toby got a little jealous when we would put Murphy in his kennel. Here he is asleep but underneath Murphy's pillow.

Toby loves playing with other dogs and most of the time we were dog sitting Toby just egged Murphy on and probably drove him crazy. Here is a movie of them playing together.

Isn't he cute!!

The Friend Christmas get together

My high school friends were able to get together after Christmas and it was a blast. We are missing Natalie and Scott but we still had a good time. Bryce and his wife announced they were pregnant with their second and Dave and I announced our little bambino coming. I am still amazed at how lucky I have been with friends. Whenever we get together we have so much fun laughing at how stupid we were when we were in high school. We would do the stupidest things that were so simple but so much fun at the time. A few of them were called the following: Whipple Drive, coasting, the drug bust, and Ricky Tait. They all have great stories with them.

Drumroll please . . .

Dave and I have had a lot of change in the last few months, we bought a house, we got a dog, and now I guess it's time for the baby. Well the time has FINALLY come to announce the coming of little baby Kelly!!!! I am now 16 weeks pregnant today and we are going to be having a baby BOY on JULY 27, 2010!!! Dave and I are so excited to be parents and to be trusted with a little baby boy. Dave and I have been married for a little over two years and are both a little older than most parents are when they start having kids. So we are so excited to welcome this little one into our home. I wanted to wait until after my 16 week appointment to make sure everything was ok with the baby before we announced it to everyone, and during the ultrasound we were able to see, as our doctor called it, the baby's "little turtle". Maybe our baby's nickname will be turtle. We were not planning on finding out at this appointment but it was pretty clear. I have felt extremely lucky being pregnant because it has been so easy. I have only felt sick, but have not been sick. As long as I'm fed then I'm a happy pregnant woman (just ask Dave, it's pretty scary when I don't eat and I get hungry). Other than feeling yucky and being extremely tired (I have to take small naps in my car during the day while I'm at work), I have felt really blessed. Here is my 12 week picture, I don't really look pregnant, even now that I'm 16 weeks, but I'm not complaining about not being big.
We told our families that we were pregnant on Christmas. We gave Dave's mom a baby afghan book and yarn with a note that said "Get crackin".We gave my family a onesie that said "Baby's 1st Christmas" and gave Dave's extended family and grandma and grandpa a cute reindeer outfit. We had so much fun giving our family this for Christmas. We told my parents on Christmas Eve on Skype because they are in Africa. We told them that we like to plan big events for when they get home from their missions. Last time we got married a few weeks after they got home from their first mission, this time we are having a baby a month after they get home. They are planning to be home around July 4th and we are due July 27th. I was so happy when the doctor told us the due date because I knew my mom would be home to be with me during my first delivery.

We were hoping to give Dave's mom a little grand girl but I guess boys are in the Kelly family. Dave and I are so excited, and really scared, to raise a baby boy but so happy to know this little addition to our home will be only a few short months away.

Christmas in a nutshell

So I know this post is long overdue, along with an update of what we have been up to. Well here is the Christmas update. In a nutshell we had a blast of a christmas in our new home!! We were able to spend christmas morning at our house where Toby got more presents than we did I think :) Then we went over to the Kelly's and had a nice time opening our homemade gifts. As you can see from Dave's sister Michelle's reaction, we had fun with the homemade gifts. Then that night we spent more time with the entire Kelly extended family. As for the Randall family we got to talk to my parents on Skype on Christmas Eve, which was a lot of fun. Then the day after Christmas we were able to go to my sister's in-laws cabin in American Fork Canyon and spend the day sledding and hanging out. It was a blast to be able to spend christmas with both families and spend some quality time with them and not be rushed. So here are some fun pictures from Christmas! Here is the aftermath of one of my most favorite christmas traditions, the silly string war. Dave's mom started putting silly string in our stockings the year that Dave and I got married. Apparently she wasn't planning on us using it right then but taking it home and using it. But the first we got our stocking me and my brother-in-law got to our silly string first and just started spraying each other and everyone, from them on it became a tradition.
Here is my cute niece Brynnley out in the snow Do you think my sister-in-law loves the present I made her?
My cute niece Kate all bundled up
Sledding, it was a blast!

Dave was so excited to put lights up on our house, we are slowly growing our collection of LED lights, which look completely different than the big bulb ones I grew up with but we are trying to save on money :)
